Day 27- 11 September 2008
Today we got the ferry boat to Murano (the home of glass sculpturing and all things glass). We toured around the little outter venitian island and had a look at one of the glass factorys with the master glass workers blowing glass and crafting some nice things.
We then headed to this nice little bakery and then off to an out of the way square we we enjoyed some baked goods and pizza.
We then headed to the other part of the island and onto the ferry to Burano (the home of lace and pastel coloured houses). Each house and shop was a different colour. For example one was blue, the next pink, the next organge. It was very colourful and a nice little island. After a stroll around the island we got back on the ferry and headed back to san marco.
After arriving back to our hotel we found our room was a construction zone and our beds in disarray and workmen in both our room and several others. We were told that it would be ready in 30 minutes. After about 45 minutes and some much considered civilised argument by 2 lawyers, we got back into our room and subsequently were refunded one nights rate for the trouble.
We headed off to a nice restaurant on the canal which has led me to the belief that no spaghetti is as good as mums spaghetti and italian food is not as good as italian food you get in Australia, go figure...
