Day 41- 25 September 2008
Today we headed to the main centre of town and decided to take a self guided walking tour from the lonely planet book. We visted a few churches in town and climbed up the top of the Fraukirche tower which gave great views of Munich. We went to the new town hall which has a glokenspiel clock which at 11am (the time we were there) starts up and figures dance, joust and move about along to music made by bells. This went for about 20 minutes and is quite good. We then walked along the street and ended up at the Hobrauhaus which is normally the place to go for oktoberfest atmosphere when it is not oktoberfest. Yet interestingly, it was packed and there was quite a party even a band playing traditional music. I enjoyed a nice beer and we had roast pork which was really tasty. The atmosphere was just as good here as at the oktoberfest site.
After going past some more sites and churches we ended up in the english garden and the chinese tower. We then headed to the main train station and picked up our hire car and headed to Fussen. It was quite a difficult navigation exercise when we got to fussen but we finally found our hotel. It was hard trying to figure out what speed you could drove on the autobarn as the sign implied that there was no speed. At some stages we went 120 and 130 (which is the normal marked speed signs) but cars were flying past us.
