Day 6- 21 August 2008
Today I went to st Pauls which is not as impressive on the inside as Westminster Abbey but has two massive domes on top of the church which you can climb to the top of. About 500 steps later you can go on three different levels. The first is on a platform going around the inside of the dome which provides a great view of the church and the paintings on the ceilings and walls. The second level is on the outside of the doom and the third level is the top of the tower of the dome which provides a view as high or higher than the London eye right across London in all directions. Its quite a harrowing climb to the top.
I then headed across the millennium bridge which luckily today has been reinforced and no longer swings from left to right and i went on a tour of Shakespeare globe. This is a recreation of the original one built and is an open air theatre and made entirely of wood.
I then went to have a quick look of Harrods in Knights bridge and then to the British Museum where i believe the best piece is Cleopatra's mummified body. Also interesting to note was a piece of the nose of the Sphinx from Cairo which they have. Although i would have thought the most appropriate place for both of these items would be in Cairo but i guess its a matter of the spoils of war and ruling.
Later that night we went drinking in Soho.
