Day 36- 20 September 2008
Today we got the train to Luzern and had a look around including the two famous bridges, one which is wooden and goes across the river with paintings on the gables of the dance of the dead and the other which also has paintings on the gables but fantastic flowers along the entire length of the bridge. We also walked along the battlements and walked up the towers which were the city wall of Luzern many many years ago.
We then got a bite to eat and got back on the train and headed to Zurich. The train trip was part of the golden pass line and is very picturesque. Once we arrived in Zurich we checked into our hotel and then headed to the ferry wharf and waited for a ferry which after missing two as they were all full up got on and went for a nice cruise up the river and around part of the lake that sits next to Zurich. The cruise went for about an hour. We then had dinner at a swiss beer hall near our hotel.
One thing that strikes me in Switzerland is that there is no swiss language. Instead people speak swiss german, swiss italian or swiss french. You spend half your time trying to figure out which language you must attempt to speak in. Which is very hard when you cant speak any of them fluently...
