Day 24- Florence/ Pisa

Day 24- 8 September 2008 Today we headed off by train to Pisa. It was a nice journeythat took us about an hour. Once there we made our way to the Pisa square (which is a very long walk from the station). We finally turned a corner and there a sneak peak of the leaning tower of pisa . We then headed straight for the ticket office and got our tickets to climb the tower. They only let 40 people at a time and the day fills up very quickly. The earliest ticket we could get was for in 2 hours time which was pretty good. After a walk around the market and street vendors and taking the usual pictures of me and ness holding up and pushing over the tower we headed and checked out the catherdral which was pretty amazing. It had lovely stained glss windows and was very large. There was also the cathedrals fair share of dead people preserved in glass coffins on display. I always find it interesting to see why people do this. Our time had come and we were at the entrance of the bottom of the tower. There is no lift but 320 steps to the top. Well after many many steps we reached the top. What an amazing view and quite scary as you walk up as half the side of the steps s on a very bad lean obviously. Well we had finally made it to the leaning tower and it is all that was expected. After a walk back to the city we headed back to florence by train for a much needed rest and some gelati.
