Day-32- Glacier Express and Zermatt

Day 32- 16 September 2008 Today we boarded the Glacier Express touted as one of the best train journeys in the world. And they were not wrong. The trip took us across the bottom of Switzerland around and in mountain ranges, past snow capped peaks, glaciers, little towns (including St Nikolas home of Santa) and past some magnificent scenery. We ended up in Zermatt which is a small township at the bottom of the Matterhorn which has no cars save small little golf cart vehicles that zoom around. Zermatt is a quiet little town with every building having magnificent flowers from their windows. Our room was pretty good with a King size bed (which is swiss for small double size bed) but it was a south facing room with a fantastic postcard view of the matterhorn out of the window and from the balcony which our room had. We found a nice little Swiss-mexican restaurant to have some traditional swiss dinner in which was nice and cosy and even let dogs inside. They views of the matterhorn were amazing both in the day and in the night.
